I discovered this hobby for myself in July 2026 and immediately decided that I didn't just want to buy a Reborn Baby, but wanted to create it myself, as I am fundamentally artistically inclined. Moreover, the beautiful thing is that it is truly MY baby. Currently (04.08.2026) I am still working on my twins (Ilea Fee (Kit Ilea by Olga Auer) and Elias Noel (Kit Mayven by Vivane Aleluia). I will document the progress of my babies here so you can be "live" with me. And perhaps it will also help one or the other in creating their own baby.

At this point, I want to admit directly that these two are not my first babies that I am creating. Previously, I created Milena for myself. Due to ignorance and admittedly false stinginess, I made a not-so-great decision here. I had ordered a "Reborn Baby" from Amazon. At that time, I did not know that it was a fake. Although one should actually be clear about that given the price. At this point, a warning to anyone who is considering ordering such a fake baby: DON'T!

But now let's continue with my story. So I bought this fake baby. And upon arrival, I was already faced with the first disappointments: 

• It was advertised as silicone vinyl. Therefore, I expected something very soft - but it wasn't.

• The baby did NOT look like in the product pictures!

I could overlook the first point to some extent, as the baby still felt pleasant and actually looked cute. But now let's get straight to the second point. The doll looked cute, but not anywhere near like in the pictures and therefore also not like a real baby. It became clear right away: This is definitely NOT a reborn baby!

Since I still liked the doll from the blank, I took the effort to strip its colour and remove the far too coarsely rooted hair. Afterwards, I repainted it with artist acrylic paints (which are not specifically made for reborn babies) and also re-rooted it. Unfortunately, I did not use high-quality mohair either. 

Why use high-quality materials?

The result was actually quite cute and I liked it very much. I also bonded with it right away.  What is bonding?  But the really terrible awakening came when I posted my Milena in the Reborndolls subreddit. My post was immediately deleted and I was informed by the mods that it was a fake and that such posts are not allowed. I then privately messaged a mod and received information that these dolls are cheap and illegal copies of artist dolls. This is of course absolutely unfair to the artists and should not be supported by anyone. Furthermore, I was informed that these dolls are often made with harmful materials and are therefore hazardous to health. Unfortunately, Milena had to move out again immediately because of this. This situation made me very sad, as I had of course loved my Milena very much. But now I was afraid for my health and additionally felt guilty for having deceived a renowned artist. 

I then quickly realised that I missed my Milena and decided to create a real reborn baby. I properly informed myself and ordered the corresponding high-quality materials. I can wholeheartedly recommend the site once so real! I would like to note that I do NOT receive any commission for this. I am simply very positively surprised by the products and I can really notice the difference compared to the materials I used before!

Yes, so I had ordered the kit from Ilea and was really looking forward to its arrival. And when I held it in my hands, I was very surprised at how great the vinyl feels. When painting, you could immediately notice a difference in how well the paint was absorbed. I found that the paints themselves are extremely well pigmented.

As I mentioned before, I am active in the Reborndolls subreddit, so I regularly see cute little babies, and one day there were twins, one baby with closed eyes and one with open eyes. And immediately a thought came to my mind: Ilea is NOT an only child, she is a twin! So I searched for the right twin brother (I have always dreamed of having a pair of twins as a teenager - I managed to get the pair, but not as twins 😉) and found the Mayven kit. Now I am working on both of them simultaneously, as it is clear to me that they must be born on the same day. By the way, I was quite surprised with Mayven, as the head is smaller than Ilea's, but the finished baby is supposed to be 2cm larger. I quickly swapped the limbs of the two, as I think it fits better that way. You will find out more about the twohere.
